PGD Project

Professional Project in IT

Under this blog post, you'll be able to download my BCS PGD Project Proposal as well as the final Project Report. Examiners declined my first proposal since I proposed to develop a software for a standalone machine, which contradicted their expected software model. The software should be networked or  distributed. This doesn't apply if you are building a website :)

  7. Hi Anuradha, while submitting the project, do we have to submit the actual software to BCS with installation instructions?

    ReplyDelete
  8. You could put your software on to a CD along with any database you have used. But I don't think they really run/install your software, so it is recommended to have many screenshots of your software/website as possible.
Also don't worry about printing the source code!! That just makes you pay extra for DHL ;)

  12. Can you help me with following questions.

    1) They say we have to include the project hard and soft copy of the project
So that mean printed 10000 world document and PDF in a CD right? Can we include the software installation files also in the same CD?

    2) What is the best courier service to use? How long does it take to reach london?

    3) What are the things that we have to include in the courier. P1, P2, Printed 10000 word documentation, A CD with softcopy of the documentation and installer file. Am I right?

    Thanks in advance

    1. 1) Yes those...you can include all in one
      2) I used Sri Lankan Post registered service. It was less costly than couriers and reached BCS after 2 weeks of time.
      3) Yes you have to send forms with the documentation and CD.... hard bind the document and send an email to BCS with your courier receipt to confirm that you mailed project(not compulsory but better to inform.

  14. I failed my 1st project submitted to BCS so i did another and it was a perfectly working Company Management System. I submitted a SRS and a project report with all the codes. It was written in Java. Surprisingly "failed" it. It was the same project I submitted for a UGC approved degree program in SL and got a B pass. I got a list of reasons for the fail grade and certain phrases were not specific: I followed IEEE report format with Hraverd referencing and all documentation standards and they have said the report format is not professional etc.
As I found those comments very doubtful I wrote back to BCS asking for more specific guidance. Then they ask me to contact my authenticater(but he wasn't the one who gave the grade it was the examiner). When I contacted my authenticater he also agreed that the project doesn't deserve a fail grade and he too was surprised about the comments of examiner.
My authenticater decided to contact BCS and get things clarified. They don't seem to be very responsive. I recently I found out that I am not the only student who got surprising fail grades. Just watch out when you do your projects.
